I was long attracted to this sentiment, but couldn’t entirely relate to it until reading I Believe in Love by Fr. Jean C.J. D’Elbee and The Spiritual Combat by Lorenzo Scupoli, which both repeatedly emphasize the importance of recognizing our own weakness and trusting in God’s strength in every endeavor. It is a lifelong challenge, of course, but can be a very freeing and joyful thing!
