“Be Prepared” Sub-Pages:
Quotes – Praying It – Basking In It – Digging Deeper – Making It Real
Very well-educated Jesuit priests (such as Edmund Campion) went into anti-Catholic England to minister to Catholics even under threat of death and knowing they might not live for very long. This concept has awed me since I first became aware of it when I was in high school. Should we not at least put some effort into preparing to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others?
Be Prepared to give a Reason for the Hope That Is In You:
To defend the truth, to articulate it with humility and conviction, and to bear witness to it in life are… exacting and indispensable forms of charity. Charity, in fact, “rejoices in the truth”. – Pope Benedict XVI, Caritas in Veritate
Apologetics
Studying Apologetics helps us be prepared to answer certain basic questions that often come up with those who are unfamiliar with the Catholic faith.
Apologetics can never be a substitute for good Christian witnessing and manifesting Christ to others. We should always understand that, if we are going into battle when defending the Catholic Church, the one we are battling with is the devil, not the one we are engaging in religious discussions with. Be charitable at all times. Don’t be a know-it-all. Also, Apologetics should never be an occasion for whitewashing the very real faults of the very human Catholic Church.
